May 14th 2017 saw the three hour race of the Blancpain GT series at Silverstone, featuring a grid of 55 GT3 spec cars.
Mercedes Benz claimed pole position with the #88 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG whilst GRT Grasser Racing Team joined them on the front row with the vivid green Lamborghini Huracan. The following three hours where a fantastic example of modern GT racing as Mercedes, Ferrari, Bentley, Nissan, McLaren, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, BMW & Jaguar battled it out for three hours.
The scrap for the lead would last the entire race and go right down to the very last lap. Mirko Bortolotti put in a fantastic first stint for the GRT Lamborghini before a safety car slowed down proceedings to enable the heavily damaged McLaren 650S of Strakka Racing's Jonny Kane to be removed from the Becketts Esses. Once the safety car pitted and the race resumed it was a straight up fight to the flag between the GRT Lamborghini and the pursuing Mercedes-AMG's of HTP Motorsport and AKKA ASP - with the Lamborghini ultimately taking the win.
A fantastic day of racing action on a warm but overcast Silverstone day!

Off-track there was several fantastic sportscars in the paddock; from a Nissan GT-R to the astonishing Koenigsegg Naraya!
